JEHOVAH'S WITNESS

This is not an attack on the decency of those who find themselves in the Kingdom Hall.  Nor do I want practitioners after this sect to feel as though they are enemies to me.  The purpose of this composition is to examine the truthfulness of Jehovah's Witness doctrine as it relates to the scriptures.  JWs make four bold claims which I will test against holy writ.

1. God is not a Trinity.

2. Jesus is not to be prayed to or worshiped.

3. Jesus Christ is a "created being," who at one time did not exist.  He is only an angel (a.k.a. Michael the archangel)

4. The Holy Spirit is not a person but is "God's active force" i.e. gravity, electricity etc.

 1. THE TRINITY IS TRUE!

1 John 5:7

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: AND THESE THREE ARE ONE.

Matthew 28:19

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the FATHER, and of the SON, and of the HOLY GHOST:

John 14:26

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will SEND IN MY NAME, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Isaiah 9:6

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, THE MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, The Prince of Peace.

They all share the same name, substance, glory and attributes. This is a big deal because God does not share his name or glory.

Isaiah 42:8

I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

God does not lie.  Jesus shares God's glory because HE IS GOD!  

John 17:5

And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with THE GLORY WHICH I HAD WITH THEE before the world was.

All gifts come from the FATHER correct?  

James 1:17

EVERY GOOD GIFT and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down FROM THE FATHER OF LIGHTS, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Okay, so how do we square that scripture with this one?

Hebrews 2:4

God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and GIFTS OF THE HOLY GHOST, according to his own will?

At some point, you must concede these three divine persons are occupying the same spaces, powers, and privileges. It is one God manifested in three personages.

2. JESUS IS PRAYED TO AND WORSHIPED.

 Matthew 2:8

And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and WORSHIP him also.

John 20:28

Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.  And Thomas answered and said unto him, MY LORD AND MY GOD.

John 14:1

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, BELIEVE ALSO IN ME.

Isn't God enough to believe in?  Jesus is letting you know he is God in making that request.

3. JESUS IS NOT CREATED!

Hebrews 5:6-8

FOR UNTO WHICH OF THE ANGELS SAID HE AT ANY TIME, THOU ART MY SON, THIS DAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN THEE? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

Revelation 22:13

I am ALPHA and OMEGA, the BEGINNING and the END, the FIRST and the LAST.

John 1:1

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The confusion on this point has to do with the BODILY creation of Jesus.  Jesus was incarnated, meaning he had a previous existence.  

Hebrews 2:9

Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

This is talking about him becoming a man.  He was made LOWER than the angels.  So this rules out him being an angel of the winged variety.  He was made a man.  When it comes to angels, anyone can be an angel.  Angel means messenger. God himself can be a messenger.  Jesus is called the Messenger of the Covenant.  That makes him the angel of the covenant, not to be confused with Michael and Gabriel which are created servants in EVERY SENSE.  Jesus only had his humanity created.  

4. THE HOLY GHOST IS A PERSON, NOT A FORCE.

John 15:26

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, HE shall testify of me:

Luke 12:12

For the Holy Ghost shall TEACH YOU in the same hour what ye ought to say.

Acts 5:3 

But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to LIE TO THE HOLY GHOST, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

You can not lie to a force.  I can't lie to electricity.  However I can lie to a person.  Wind is a force.  It can not teach me algebra.  However a person can.  Lastly, gravity has no gender.  Forces have no sexual idenity.  However a person does. 

Good friend, Jesus is LORD!  Believe in him as the son of God, and the atonement for sin.  Do this and you will be saved.
