LORD LORD

Matthew 7:21-23
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the WILL OF MY FATHER which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

First of all what is the WILL OF THE FATHER?

John 6:39-40
And this is the FATHER'S WILL which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.  And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

So the will of God is for you to believe in his son that is very clear in the above scripture.  However what about Jesus telling a group of believers that he never knew them, What is that all about? Well look at the Mathew quote that says, have we not prophesied in thy name?

Does prophesying(teaching) save? No! and have cast out devils?

Does casting out devils save a man?

No! and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Does wonderful works save?

Well let us take a look.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

These professing Christians were NEVER saved, they trusted in their good works!  Jesus said I NEVER knew you, not I knew you but that you backslid so away with you.  No, I never knew you. they never trusted him alone for their salvation.
